The fairy book is actually a series of 3 with lots of auxiliary books if Marlowe ends up liking it. I practically grew up on them. The series: https://www.amazon.com/Fairy-Dust-Quest-Trilogy-Book/dp/0786834919 The "Disney Fairy" books: http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/34121.Disney_s_Fairy_Books The first ones are the best. "Rani in the Mermaid Lagoon" was my favorite! Happy Reading, Julie]]> In reply to Eva Martino.

Growing up I loved the Narnia books and The Indian in the Cupboard books!
To this day my favorite picture books are
One Morning in Maine by Robert McCloskey (little girl and her dad spend the morning together)
Pickle-Chiffon Pie by Roger Bradfield (a king sends 3 princes to find the wonderful thing in the forest, the winner gets to marry the princess)
Flap Your Wings by P.D. Eastman (a bird family raises an alligator, they think he’s just a funny looking baby bird)

Thanks for the book recommendation for Marlowe! She will ADORE the mermaids. :) Also cute idea about the book club! I never thought of that! I'm thinking about started a ladies book club at my house once a month to make some new friends so maybe I can do an online version as well!]]> In reply to Julie.

Roald Dahl is a master word smith. Surprisingly, all the movie adaptations I’ve seen are wonderful (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Witches, Matilda, and especially James and the Giant Peach *wink wink*). I bet you can’t wait for Marlowe to be old enough to appreciate the books you loved so much (not that you want her to grow up any faster). I recommend “Fairy Dust and the Quest for the Egg” for Marlowe. It takes place in Pixie Hollow/ Neverland with Tinkerbell and her fellow fairies and MERMAIDS! The illustrations are exquisite and interactive, which makes it a great gift also. Another great way to pass time if you want something less engaging are movie and Broadway soundtracks, Tarantino’s and anything by Alexandre Desplat are transcendent. Not to mention Hamilton which makes a drive to the cape in traffic feel like a Sunday joyride.
Best Wishes, Julie
P.S. You should consider creating an online book club through social media. Lots of celebrities (and bloggers) have them. I follow Florence Welch’s and it’s great fun!

I love hearing the book as the author intended – accents and intonation. Did you know you can return a book if you don’t like it?! I’ve only done it once, but that is an example of their great service. They also give great recommendations and have frequent sales. Told you I was a fan!

Some of my faves –
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins (read before the movie comes out in a month!)
Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll
All the Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
The Rocks by Peter Nichols
Cold Sassy Tree by Olive Ann Burns
The Japanese Lover by Isabel Allende
The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows
Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty
The Children Act by Ian McEwan
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah
The Paris Architect by Charles Belfoure
